Since quitting my job as a computer programmer, the business has grown steadily. My practical capabilities, coupled with a desire to do exciting and interesting projects has served me well. I also completed a design course, which has been invaluable. I use the design principles in virtually all my work. Before I became a professional landscaper, I have had two other careers. I left school straight into an apprenticeship with BT. Many of the skills I use today were picked up at BT. After 15 years, I took voluntary redundancy, and having re-trained as a computer programmer, and managed to land a position with Barclays Bank. Spent ten years doing that, but with an increasing longing to do something more practical and outdoors. I decided that it was time to take the plunge into landscaping. I did a course in garden design, to add to my existing practical skills.

The business has gone from strength to strength. Most of my work comes from “word of mouth”, from customers who are satisfied with what I do. This has to be the best endorsement. I am steering towards decking work mainly now because I like the construction side of business. Currenty avoiding heavy groundwork such as paving as it is taking it’s toll on my body!

Outside of work I have several interests, the main one being music. I am in a band/duo called Kim & co, doing regular gigs. We love to do an acoustic music also. I love going to open mic nights, frequent local folk clubs. I have 2 fantastic children, Amy (28) & Daniel (25). Love to go walking. Recently done Snowdon, Hellvellyn, Ben Nevis and Scafell. Hope to do more this year, if I can find the energy (&time)!!
